Anxiety Treatment
Are you experiencing anxiety that won’t go away?
Do you have panic attacks?
Do you feel like you’re overreacting? Or overstressing?
Dr. Brossfield delivers non-invasive treatment to improve your state of mind.
We have seen some incredible results from our advanced treatment protocol.
A Breakthrough Treatment for Anxiety Disorders
We’ve all had occasional moments of anxiety — it’s a normal part of life. Many people worry about money, health, or family problems or experience a higher level of anxiety because of stressful life events.
However, when that worry won’t go away, even when there’s no “logical” reason to be worried, then you may have an anxiety disorder. And that constant feeling of worry or dread can keep you up at night, cause panic attacks, make you overreact to the smallest thing, and interfere with your day-to-day life.
Anxiety disorders are the most common mental health disorder in the United States. The National Institutes of Health reports that 19.1% of US adults have experienced an anxiety disorder in the last year. And 31% will have an anxiety disorder in their lifetime. So you’re not alone.
You may have even tried treating your anxiety, but perhaps medications or therapy haven’t worked as you’d hoped or caused difficult side effects. It can make you feel you’ll have to live with anxiety, panic, and constant stress forever.
But you don’t. At the Brain Treatment Center of Rancho Mirage, we offer a breakthrough treatment for anxiety: MeRT, or Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy. MeRT is a non-invasive, drug-free treatment that can help relieve anxiety symptoms by improving brain function and communication.

While MeRT is a relatively new treatment protocol, it has shown some remarkable results. The MeRT treatment plan is highly individualized for each person, with the purpose of improving brain communication.
An Entirely New, Breakthrough Approach
MeRT Treatment for Anxiety
Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy, or MeRT, is a completely non-invasive and drug-free treatment for anxiety. MeRT combines Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS, an FDA cleared therapy), Quantitative Electroencephalogram (qEEG), and Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG). This combination of technologies helps us to analyze and formulate treatments tailored to each patient’s unique brain pattern.
The MeRT process is much more evolved than standard TMS treatments since it is not a “one size fits all” approach. MeRT is highly individualized as to both frequency and location. This scientific approach is unique to each person.
Patients with an anxiety disorder have markers in their brain that are visible in their EEG studies. We can see an imbalance in brainwave activity between the left and right hemispheres, called asymmetry. The MeRT protocol identifies the asymmetry by strengthening the brainwave activity, which can reduce anxiety symptoms.
This treatment can result in a major reduction of anxiety symptoms — a vastly improved quality of life.*
What are Anxiety Disorders?
With an anxiety disorder, feelings of worry, fear, and panic don’t go away. And they can be out of proportion to the actual situation. Anxiety disorders include panic attacks, social phobia, agoraphobia, even anxiety caused by a medical condition.
The most common anxiety disorder is generalized anxiety disorder, when you have a constant or excessive worry or fear that interferes with your life. This worry and fear completely consume you.
Nobody knows exactly what causes anxiety disorders. However, per the National Institute of Mental Health, “Several parts of the brain and biological processes play a key role in fear and anxiety.” Genetic and environmental factors can contribute to an anxiety disorder, such as exposure to stressful and negative life events in childhood or having a relative with a history of anxiety or other mental disorders.
If you’re experiencing anxiety disorder symptoms and they won’t go away despite treatment, don’t give up. Hope exists.
MeRT is a revolutionary approach to anxiety treatment that has achieved some amazing results.

“This technology is truly a magic bullet.”
For anyone suffering from depression, anxiety, and other symptoms, I highly recommend trying MeRT. My adult son who has suffered from both problems his entire life, and has been on medication, realized a positive change after the first visit. We saw dramatic improvement after each visit. This technology is truly a magic bullet.”

MeRT Treatment: What To Expect
MeRT is a relatively new treatment, and we know you may have many questions as to whether it’s right for you. We understand, and we’re here to make it as easy as possible for you to get more information.
Your first step is a simple phone consultation with our New Patient Coordinator. You can discuss symptoms and history, ask all the questions you want, and have her explain the protocols, fees, and details of treatment.
If, after talking with our New Patient Coordinator, you decide to take the next step, we’ll set up appointments for testing and consultation. We follow these with an assessment period where the actual procedure and monitoring take place.
The Four Steps of MeRT Treatment
By assessing the communication quality between the networks of neurons in your brain, we can hone in on and gently stimulate and “wake up” those areas to improve function.
Testing & Evaluation
On your first appointment, we will perform the qEEG, also often referred to as a brain scan, and an EKG as described above. This takes about 45 minutes to an hour.
These tests are painless, easy to do, and straightforward. They are performed right in our office.
Once testing is completed, our scientists and physicians will interpret and analyze the results to determine the exact function of the brain.
Analysis
We carefully analyze the test results using a scientific and patented approach. Once the testing is completed and results evaluated, we will schedule a consultation with the Doctor to discuss the results and how these relate to symptoms being experienced.
Based on this analysis, we develop a treatment plan customized to your specific condition and schedule your assessment period of treatment.
MeRT Treatment
Once your treatment protocols are in place, you will come to therapy, five days a week, in two-week intervals. You simply sit in a comfortable chair while a highly-trained neuro-technician places a magnetic coil on your head. This device produces a low-frequency magnetic field to induce mild electrical signals in the targeted areas of the brain.
Time spent in the chair is typically 30 minutes. The stimulation occurs for 6-8 seconds every minute.
Progress Evaluation
We will monitor your progress throughout your daily treatments to confirm how you feel and track improvements. After two weeks of treatment, we will perform another qEEG and EKG to review your progress and make any needed modifications.
If there is a positive response to treatment during the assessment period, you will likely notice some symptom improvements. At that point, we will schedule treatment in two-week intervals.
