Dementia Treatment
Are you experiencing Dementia, Alzheimer’s, or Cognitive Decline?
Dr. Brossfield delivers treatment that can improve your mental clarity and help to restore weakening brain function.
We have seen some incredible improvements from our advanced treatment protocol.
A Comprehensive Medical Treatment for Dementia and Alzheimer’s
We’ve all had moments when we can’t remember things or think clearly. That can be due to not getting enough sleep, taking on too much at once, trauma, or just a normal part of aging.
But when these types of episodes start occurring more often, it may be a symptom of Cognitive Decline or Dementia. That isn’t something to be taken lightly. Getting early treatment can make all the difference to your quality of life.
Dr. Jeralyn Brossfield and our team at the Brain Care Performance Center in Rancho Mirage can help — even if your condition has progressed.
Multiple factors can cause Cognitive Decline, Dementia, and Alzheimer’s Disease, and these can become cumulative. Because of this, we offer a multi-faceted treatment protocol.
Our mission is to look for the underlying root causes of your condition and treat it accordingly, based on your unique results.
Dr. Brossfield and our clinic are passionate about helping those with Mild Cognitive Decline, Cognitive Impairment, Dementia, and Alzheimer’s.
Treatment can comprise the use of the Bredesen protocol and a state-of-the-art treatment called MeRT, or Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy. We tailor our treatment to your exact situation based on well-established medical testing, including EEG brain analysis.
We recognize that each person’s brain is as unique as their fingerprint and tailor our treatment specifically to your condition. Treating Dementia is what we do. You are in good hands with Dr. Brossfield.
What is Cognitive Decline?
Cognitive Decline (or Cognitive Impairment) is the gradual loss of brain function, loss of memory, and shrinking of the brain mass. This can lead to simply forgetting things occasionally or some confusion at its mildest, or to a diagnosis of Dementia or Alzheimer’s.
The Mayo Clinic defines Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) as “the stage between the expected cognitive decline of normal aging and the more serious decline of dementia. It’s characterized by problems with memory, language, thinking or judgment.”
There’s no single cause of Mild Cognitive Impairment. And symptoms may remain stable for years or even improve over time. However, symptoms may also progress to Alzheimer’s Disease or another type of Dementia.
Risk factors for Cognitive Impairment can include aging, family history/genetics, education level, brain injury, exposure to toxins, and chronic conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.
Additional factors can include diet, infections, activity levels, poor gut health (dysbiosis), inflammation, insulin resistance, and other hormonal imbalances.
Symptoms of Cognitive Decline or Impairment
Some symptoms that can occur include:
- Forgetting things more often, which can progress to memory loss and confusion
- Losing your train of thought or the thread of conversations, books, or movies
- Forgetting appointments or social engagements
- Feeling increasingly overwhelmed when making decisions or plans
- Difficulty understanding instructions
- Having trouble finding your way around familiar environments
- Becoming more impulsive
- Showing increasingly poor judgment
- Trouble speaking, expressing thoughts, or reading and writing
- Getting lost or wandering
- Repetitive questions, forgetting words
- Losing interest in social interaction
- Not caring about other people’s feelings
- Paranoia, delusions, or hallucinations
- Losing your balance
We Offer a Revolutionary Approach to Cognitive Decline or Impairment
At the BrainCare Performance Center, we understand that there are multifactorial causes of Mild Cognitive Decline, Dementia, and Alzheimer’s Disease. Because of this, we use a thorough approach to identify anything that may be contributing to the symptoms of these conditions.
First, we test to get to the root cause of what these contributors may be and then treat them accordingly. For example, it’s possible to have an inherited gene from a parent that can make you predisposed to conditions such as Dementia or Alzheimer’s. However, just because you have a predisposition doesn’t mean that there aren’t ways to prevent it from happening.
Additionally, in some cases, we can stop the progression and even reverse it. While results can vary from person to person, we have seen some amazing success with our protocols.
Besides having a family history of Dementia or Alzheimer’s, other things can contribute to the onset of these conditions and create a “perfect storm” that can cause symptoms to manifest and progress.

The Bredesen Protocol
“Everyone knows someone who’s survived cancer. But no one knows anyone who’s survived Alzheimer’s until now.” – Dr. Bredesen
Created by Dr. Dale Bredesen, the Protocol offers the first scientifically proven approach to halt and reverse Cognitive Decline. In his book, “The End of Alzheimer’s,” Dr. Bredesen outlines the most recent knowledge of the six types of Alzheimer’s and how we can reverse this disease.
We are certified providers of the Bredesen Protocol.
We Strongly suggest our patients subscribe as ReVERSE participants at www.recodereport.com, allowing us to generate ReCode reports to guide care.
According to Dr. Dale Bredesen:
49 is the average age of someone living with Dementia. There has been a 373% increase in Dementia among people who are 30-44 years old, and Alzheimer’s is now the leading cause of death worldwide.
We think of Alzheimer’s as only affecting older people but that’s changing. Our fast-paced lifestyles, the widespread impact of COVID, and increasing toxicity of our environment may be factors converging to create an astounding increase in early-onset Dementia among younger people.”
Cognoscopy
If you are over 45 years of age, you should have a Cognitive test we call a Cognoscopy.
This is a set of tests to identify contributors and risk factors for Cognitive Decline that are specific to YOU.
This includes an assessment of:
- Genetics
- Inflammation
- Infections
- Homocysteine
- Fasting insulin level
- Hormonal status
- Toxic exposure
- Immune system
- Microbiome
- Blood-brain barrier
- Body mass index
- Cholesterol particles
- Biotoxins
Using the information from your Cognoscopy, we identify the main areas of concern. Targeted therapy uses diet, supplements, movement, medications, detoxification, brain stimulation, stress optimization, and MeRT (Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy).
What is MeRT and How Does it Work?
MeRT, or Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy, is a cutting-edge treatment that combines Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS, an FDA-cleared therapy), Quantitative Electroencephalogram (qEEG), and Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG).
This combination of technologies helps to analyze and formulate treatments tailored to each patient’s unique brain pattern.
Because every person’s brain is as unique as their fingerprint, how your brain functions can differ greatly from someone else’s. MeRT is highly individualized to both frequency and location, using magnetic waves to stimulate specifically targeted areas of the brain that have been found to not be communicating or functioning optimally.
Patients have reported feeling significant clinical improvements. *

The MeRT Approach to Cognitive Decline or Impairment and Alzheimer’s Disease
In addition to the Bredesen Protocol, Dr. Jeralyn Brossfield also offers an adjunct treatment protocol for those with Cognitive Impairment, Dementia, and Alzheimer’s disease called MeRT, or Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy.
The Bredesen Protocol is designed to identify and treat root causes. When used in combination with this protocol, MeRT has also shown some amazing results. *
For those experiencing Mild Cognitive Decline or those wanting to optimize their brain function, MeRT can also be used in and of itself.
MeRT is a well-tolerated and highly effective approach for symptom relief for those with Cognitive Impairment and Dementia. It’s non-invasive and drug-free.
Simply stated, MeRT uses a magnetic field to stimulate and balance brain function, guided by sophisticated imaging and diagnostics.
In this way, MeRT may help patients with progressive forms of Cognitive Decline or Dementia from progressing further. It can also simply be used to sharpen one’s mind and improve mental acuity, like a tune-up for your brain.

MeRT Treatment for Cognitive Decline: What To Expect
MeRT is a relatively new treatment, and we know you may have many questions about whether it’s right for you. We understand, and we’re here to make it as easy as possible for you to get more information.
Your first step is a simple phone consultation with our New Patient Coordinator. You can discuss symptoms and history, ask all the questions you want, and have her explain the protocols, fees, and details of treatment.
If, after talking with our New Patient Coordinator, you decide to take the next step, we’ll set up appointments for testing and consultation. We follow these with an assessment period where the actual procedure and monitoring take place.
Initial Diagnostics
EEG Testing
At your first appointment, we perform a Quantitative Electroencephalogram (qEEG) and Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG). This test is simple and painless. We place a cap on your head to measure the electrical activity in your brain and map out any areas which are not performing as they should. And we attach electrodes to your chest to record your heart’s electrical signals.
We perform this test right in our office, then Dr. Brossfield and her team carefully analyze the test results. Based on this analysis, we develop a treatment plan customized to your specific condition and schedule your assessment period of treatment.
Consultation
Your second appointment is a one-on-one consultation with Dr. Brossfield. You can do this either in person or virtually from the comfort of your home. Dr. Brossfield will discuss your test results. She will answer any questions you may have and let you know more about what to expect and the specific protocols she recommends for you.
This may include recommendations for further testing via Cognoscopy and/or MeRT treatment.
Often, MeRT treatment is more effective after the underlying root causes of your condition are identified and treated. Other patients may benefit from MeRT treatment alone.
Treatment with MeRT
Assessment Period
The next step is the assessment period, where we will perform a short period of treatment, followed by a new EEG to see how you’re responding to the treatment. This is determined based on the new EEG results as compared to the initial one done, as well as symptom improvements.
If there is a positive response to treatment during the assessment period, you will have likely noticed some improvements starting to take place. At that point, we will schedule additional MeRT treatment in two-week intervals.
At the end of every two weeks, we will perform a qEEG/EKG to monitor your progress. You will then have a consultation with Dr. Brossfield to confirm that changes are still showing on the testing.
Most conditions treated with MeRT provide noticeable and long-lasting results after four to eight weeks of treatment; however, each patient is different, and results may vary.
Because progressive types of dementia can get worse over time, we recommend that once you complete the initial treatment, you return for intermittent treatment. This will vary based on your condition. MeRT can also help with the depression that often comes with Cognitive Decline. *
* Results are based on active and strict observation of our regimens. Results may vary based on the individual user and are not guaranteed.
